Barely a week after a gallant soldier, Lt. Col Muhammed Abu-Ali was killed by Boko Haram members in Mallam Fatori, Borno state, the sect members yesterday ambushed and killed another Lieutenant Colonel, B.U. Umar, the commanding officer of 114 TF battalion of the Nigerian Army.

Premium Times reports that he was ambushed alongside members of his troop yesterday between Bita and Piridang.

 A source who confirmed the development said:

“His vehicle stepped on an improvised explosive device, but he was not hurt. He came out to assess the damage on the vehicle and Boko Haram opened fire and killed him in the process.”

The source added that the soldiers were said to be on their way to Yola, Adamawa State from Bita in Borno State when they were attacked.

Umar, who took over the command of the 114 battalion about three weeks ago, was a member of the 48 Regular Course in the Nigeria Defence Academy, NDA.

When contacted, the Army spokesperson, Col S.K Usman, said he was not aware of the death.

Atiku Tells EFCC: I Am Not Corrupt...El-Rufai Lied Against Me

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has denied being a corrupt person, a label that was created in the wake of a political tussle between him and his boss, President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Atiku stated this in an interview with some officials from the media team of the EFCC, published in the latest edition of the anti-graft agency’s Zero Tolerance Magazine.

Responding to a question on how allegations of corruption became his albatross in the race for the presidency in 2006, he said:

“Well if Atiku is corrupt, he would have been found guilty of corruption by all the panels and probes and cases brought before courts.

"I remember the only corruption indictment against me was a white paper which was cooked up by our own administration over night to including the very EFCC that I helped found and other cabinet ministers, which I challenged in court. 

"The court rightly dismissed all those indictments as being mere political; and till today nobody has ever indicted me of corruption.”

Also responding to allegations of corruption leveled against him by Governor el-Rufai’s in his book Accidental Public Servant, Atiku said el-Rufai did not give evidence or prove where he was corrupt.

He added that: “This is the same el-Rufai and others who incorporated Transcorp during my time as Vice President and offered me shares and I declined.”

“I wrote to them officially to say it was unethical of me to have accepted those offers, so, where is the corruption toga coming from.”

Asked to explain the bribe scandal of N50 million, involving Senator Ibrahim Mantu, Jonathan Zwingina and others during el-Rufai ministerial confirmation screening, Atiku said: “No, that is absolutely not true.”

Atiku noted that el-Rufai ran to him and complained that he was denied confirmation by the Senate, adding that he called Mantu and others and confronted them.

He said: “It is also on record, because I controlled campaign funds, every Senator benefited from those funds; and el-Rufai now went and said those campaign funds were meant to be bribe.

"Of course my boss, the president, investigated the story and found out that indeed every Senator got contributions from the campaign fund which I was managing. 

So where is the corruption in that?”

Nigerian Pastor, arrested for allegedly killing his colleague in Osun State

Officers of the Nigeria Police-Osun State command, have arrested one pastor Timothy Abiola for allegedly killing his fellow clergyman, Pastor Bamiji Ilori. The incident which occurred recently at Ikire, Irewole LGA of Osun State, was disclosed to press men on Sunday by the state Police Commissioner, Mr Fimihan Adeoye.

According to Folasade Odoro, Police spokesperson; Pastor Timothy’s reason for killing his friend and fellow clergy with a gun has not yet been ascertained.

He stated that a relative of the deceased, Adedeji Ajao, had over the weekend reported to the police that his uncle, Ilori had been shot dead by his friend, Timothy, who is also a pastor.

According to the CP, police detectives were immediately deployed to the scene of the incident where the remains of late Ilori was found with a gunshot injury to his head, noting that when the suspect was arrested, he confessed that he actually killed his friend.

Adeoye said that the body of the slain pastor had been deposited in a mortuary at the Catholic Hospital, Oluyoro area, in Apomu town, for autopsy, while the one dane gun suspected to have been used by Timothy in perpetrating the wicked act has been recovered from him.

He added that investigation has already commenced for the conviction of Timothy.

Photos: Suicide bombers neutralized in Borno state

Yesterday at about 9.45pm, a suspected female suicide bomber attempted to enter the military location in Yamtake, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State but a vigilant sentry on duty gunned her down and she died instantly.

The failed suicide bombing attack was followed up with futile probing attack by terrorists which was decisively dealt with by the troops.


The troops killed all the 4 attackers including 2 suicide bombers and recovered 2 AK-47, 3 Magazines, 109 rounds of 7.62mm (Special), 1 Torchlight, 1 Water bottle, 3 Magazine carrier, 1 Illuminator pyrotecnic and some quantity of drugs. Unfortunately, we a soldier died in the process.

Husband bites off wife’s nose because she couldn’t pay his expensive dowry in India (graphic photo)

A violent husband bit off his wife's nose after she refused to pay his expensive dowry and moved out of their home. According to reports, Raj Kumari and her husband Shiv Prasad got married two years ago but separated last year, following his continuous luxury dowry demand of £1,800 and brand new motorbike.



The 21 year old lady, who moved to her parent’s house in Lakhimpur after separating from her 23 year old husband, claims that the shocking incident took place on her way to school on Tuesday, when he ran towards her and grabbed her before biting off her nose after failed attempts to bring her back home.


After the said incident, Shiv ran away before she called her family to the scene and they quickly arrived and took her to a Medical clinic where it was confirmed that she lost a portion of her nose.

According to reports, Raj Kumari who was later arrested that same day by policemen from Gola Police Station explained that he only attacked her because of the way she dresses to school and for also refusing to return home with him.

Kim and Kanye have fired longtime bodyguard Pascal Duvier one month after Paris robbery

Just one month after Kim K was robbed in her Paris hotel by a group of men who made off with $11million worth of jewels, the bodyguard who was tasked to take care of her, Pascal Duvier, has been sacked. Pascal, who has been with the Kardashian family since 2012, was reportedly sacked this week by Kim and her husband, Kanye.

According to Entertainment Tonight, Pascal wasn't the only one who was let go. "Pascal, along with a couple other security members of their team, were recently let go by Kim and Kanye. It's a pretty tough situation overall and they love Pascal, but they couldn't take any more chances.' a source told ET. Kim now moves around with off-duty police officers

UPDATE: NJC finally suspends 7 judges busted for corruption

The National Judicial Council, NJC, has suspended the seven senior judges arrested in October by the State Security Service (SSS) for alleged monumental corruption.

NJC initially refused to suspend the judges despite pressure, saying the allegations against them had not been substantiated. It later said the judges had voluntarily stepped down from court sittings.

Their suspension came after the council’s 7th meeting between yesterday and today.

A communique issued at the end of the meeting, and signed by Director of Information, Soji Oye, said the decision was taken to avoid allowing persons under investigation to partake in presiding over judicial matters at the same time.

“Council also decided that Judicial Officers shall not be standing trial for alleged corruption related offences and be performing judicial functions at the same time.

“Council however decided that it will ensure that Judicial Officers who are being investigated for alleged high profile criminal offences do not perform judicial functions until their cases are concluded,” the communique said

So, today I attended Dr. Chris Okafor’s church- Mountain of Miracle and Liberation Ministries also known as Liberation City. Remember the church that gave us some of the highest trending videos of 2015? That’s the church where a demon speaking through a girl claimed that they “Killed Michael Jackson” during the girl’s deliverance.

And shortly after, there was another video of the Man of God actually praying a dead baby back to life!Well, I finally went on a fact-finding mission. 

First of all, the service that I attended was the grand finale of a popular annual program in the church known as “Not My Head Not My Blood”. It took place today, Sunday, October 30, 2016. I witnessed a real life deliverance session and at first I was 100% sure the woman was faking…then suddenly I wasn’t, after certain things started getting confirmed in real time and real life. Hmmm. Still looking into those. Then the prophecies…those I would say are his Trade Mark. They are so accurate and unbelievably on point…the man told one lady how she was set up to cheat on her boyfriend with another man and he mentioned the name of the hotel and the room number- Room 012! And the lady confirmed. I will never forget that.I was completely blown away. I wanted to have a chart with him and probably introduce myself as a journalist so I can ask him about the source of his power and all, but I had no luck. They said I wasn’t on appointment. I have requested for a date to see him. When I do, I’ll let all know what I found out.

Midway into the service, I was completely shocked when the man started talking about how the Lord had instructed him never to touch church money since the inception of the church (is that possible?) He told his congregation that because he has been faithful and stayed away from church money, and stayed focused on the work of God, that the Lord has promised to bless him with more Aircraft! Really? First alarm off my head was, does he have an aircraft? When did he buy? How did he buy? What kind? I met my secret contact who managed to secure for me exclusive pictures of the aircraft after so much begging. Apparently, a few privileged individuals in the church leadership knew about this, but the church members didn’t know a thing about it. So I’m the first to bring you these exclusive pictures with the pastor in his new luxury bird. That’s right, Prophet (Dr.) Chris Okafor a.k.a Talknado now has an aircraft and is in fact expecting more next year, 2017. According to my contact, the man of God has had nearly a hundred foreign mission trips in this year alone, for his ONE BILLION SOUL mandate (God told him to go round the whole world and win 1 billion souls for Him). Na waooo! 1 billion! Well, my contact cautiously hinted that some of his heavy-duty global partners made it possible. Hmmm…okay o. Church business on my mind.

Remember the gossip about his marriage break up? It was all true. But that’s not the point. The point is that after his marriage broke up he stood in front of the congregation and said that he would never get married until his children are all grown and out of the house, I was told! Really? Well, all that has now changed. As part of what the Lord promised him for 2017, the man of God hinted that the Lord is speaking to him about remarrying next year- 2017! My contact didn’t tell me this. I sat in the congregation when he said it on this day of our Lord, Sunday, October 30, 2016. As far as I’m concerned, this man has just told us that he’s remarrying in 2017. Period! I guess he has finally realized that there is a limit to how much his anointing can handle. Young, handsome, rich and full of anointing and you say you won’t marry until your children are all grown…oya do am now make I see! Anointing don shout for am. Let us be real jare! Photos And Video: Team of 50 Kenyan doctors successfully separate conjoined twins

 Doctors at the Kenyatta Hospital on Wednesday morning November 3rd, successfully separated conjoined twins in the first ever surgery of its kind on the continent.

A team of 50 medical specialists separated the twin girls, Favour and Blessing, whose lower backs were fused, in an operation that took 23 hours and concluded at 5am on Wednesday morning after a two year hospital stay.

The twins are currently admitted in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital but KNH Acting Chief Executive Officer Thomas Mutie, told reporters that they are expected to make a full recovery.

“It is the first time in Sub-Saharan Africa, outside South Africa where this kind of operation has been done successfully. So this fete is a statement to the world ‘in KNH and in Kenya, we can do what other people can do."

The girls have been admitted to the hospital for the last two years since their birth in late 2014. The doctors however opted to given the children time to grow before putting them under the knife to allow them time for preparation and to allow the girls to grow in strength as explained by doctor Mutie.

"These particular ones were joined in the sacro area, in the bottom area, and they had to be given food to grow, to have enough muscles for that separation to occur. So this day marks the culmination of those two years of preparation and I’m humbled by the importance and enormity of this event."

Below is a report posted by the Hospital on its official Facebook page: 

"On 1st November 2016, the Kenyatta National Hospital and School of Health Sciences - University of Nairobi medical team successfully separated the conjoined twins Blessing and Favour. The separation surgery of the Sacrophagus twins who were joined at the lower back took 23 hours. The twins have been in KNH since 5th September 2014 following their referral from St. Theresa Hospital, Kiirua in Meru County.

The multidisciplinary team of over fifty (50) medical specialists including paediatric surgeons, neurosurgeons, plastic and reconstructive surgeons, anesthetists and nursing teams performed the 23 hour long highly delicate surgery on 1st November 2016 at the KNH Main Theatres leading to the successful separation of the twins. The surgery ended 2nd November, 2016 at 5:00am.

The children have been admitted in the Specialized Surgical Paediatric Ward for over two years to allow development of key organs and also enable them gain appropriate muscles to withstand the surgery. The conjoined twin girls who were born on 4th September 2014 were joined at the sacral region of the lower spinal cord. 

Surgery of this nature usually required planning and regular consultation by a multi-disciplinary team of KNH and School of Health Sciences, UON specialists to exchange ideas on how best to perform the procedure while minimizing risk of either paralysis or neural damage. 

Having been convinced that time was appropriate, the team set on the surgery on 1st November 2016, at 6.00am and after 23 long hours in theatre, they emerged with the two separate children who are currently admitted in the ICU. The children are stable, receiving specialized care and we are monitoring progress. We are confident that they will fully recovery and live normal independent lives to adulthood.

We thank God for this great milestone and celebrate the team for the job well done. It has taken not only skills but patience, commitment and self confidence to bring this joy to the mother, relatives, friends and honor to our country for the first ever sarcophagus surgery in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Successful surgery is a testimony that the country is endowed with medical specialists who can handle complicated human health challenges"
