I am not directly in touch with President Buhari but I speak with those around him- Femi Adesina

Posted By: Unknown - 2:51 PM
Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina says he is not directly in touch with the president but that he speaks with those around him in London. Adesina said this on Channels TV this morning.
"Daily. I am not saying I speak with him directly but I am in touch with London daily. People around him, we speak daily"he said

Femi says he does not know when President Buhari will be coming back
"In his communication to the National Assembly, that was not indicated. We just have to stay with what he has told us but what I will just say is that the President may be coming back sooner than people think because we hear all the rumors, we see all the malice, all the mischief against the President. All those people will be surprised. The President may be coming back sooner than they think.".
He says no one can compare the Yar'Adua scenario with what is happening to President Buhari now
"You can't compare the Yar'Adua scenario/saga with what is happening now. Then you could ask for daily updates because the President left the country without anybody been told where he was headed and why he was going there. Two, he did not transfer power to his then deputy, the Vice President. That is not the situation now. When the President was leaving on January 19th, we issued a statement. He was going on vacation and he would do routine medical checkups. Now when those medical checkups need to be extended, we also announced it that because he needed to still do more and get the results, he has asked for an extension. and then three, power has been transferred to the Vice President who is the Acting President"he said

BREAKING News: Nigerian University Finds Cure for HIV/AIDS After Years of Scientific Research... See Interesting Details

The Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, in Abia state southeast of Nigeria says it has discovered a new drug for the treatment and cure of HIV/AIDS, reports The Voice of Nigeria.

According to a statement by Prof. Francis Otunta, the Vice Chancellor of the university on Wednesday, the finding followed years of scientific research by the institution.

He said that the breakthrough was made by Prof. Maduike Ezeibe, a researcher in the university. According to him, Ezeibe had presented the drug to the University management, Senate and Council, where he explained the processes he went through to arrive at his finding.

The VC also said that Ezeibe had equally presented the drug to his colleagues in the medical field and nobody had contradicted his finding. “Prof. Ezeibe is a researcher in Veterinary Medicine and one may wonder how he discovered a drug to cure a human ailment,” he said.

He commended Ezeibe for the breakthrough and for bringing “honour to the University.”

Otunta said that the university was in the process of mass producing the drug for further clinical trials on persons living with HIV/AIDS in the country.

Ezeibe, who is a professor of Veterinary Medicine and Clinical Virology, said that the drug was produced with Aluminum Silicate and Magnesium Silicate (Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate).

He said that the two minerals “are already in use as medicines for the treatment of various animal and human diseases”.

He said that 10 persons living with the disease, “who volunteered’’, were made to apply through their doctor to the VC, disclosing that “they were treated daily with the Medicinal Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate (50 mg/kg).”

Ezeibe said that the volunteers were subjected to monthly tests for viral loads and CD4-lymphocyte counts.

“With the antiviral effects of the medicine, its ability to reach all cells (as nanoparticles) and the lymphocytes, there is no more hiding place (sanctuary) for HIV,” he said.

He said that the medicine had been used to “potentiate Ampicilin, Chloroquine, Piperazine and Sulphadimidin, among others, and could be a major foreign exchange earner for Nigeria, if approved by relevant authorities.”

According to him, “local and international pharmaceutical companies would find the product as a veritable raw material”.

Ezeibe said that he presented the research findings to the World Virology Conference in Atlanta in 2015, and Antonio (Texas) in 2016. He also said  that the results of the laboratory tests had been published in many international scientific journals, including the British Journal of Medicine and Medical Research, among several others.

He said that he was also about to sign a memorandum of understanding with a U.S.-based Scientific Research Publishing, publishers of World Journal of AIDS, for the publication of his book “How I came about the cure for HIV/AIDS”.

Ezeibe, who said that the medicine was patented in August 2014 in Nigeria, called on the Federal Government to help him to secure international patency for the drug.

He said: “If commercialised, the Medicinal Synthetic Aluminum-Magnesium Silicate would become an alternative for petroleum to the Nigerian economy.”

Kenyan gospel singer ends her marriage only hours after tying the knot saying her heart is elsewhere

Posted By: Unknown - 9:59 AM
Popular Kenyan gospel Singer, Eunice Njeri, who got married to her rapper boyfriend, Isaac Bukasa at a lovely ceremony on November 27 in Texas, decided she was no longer in love with him by the end of that same day and announced their separation.

Eunice's excuse for ending the marriage is that her heart was elsewhere. She left for Africa immediately after and made the separation public just yesterday. She is referring to it as an annulment because they did not get to sign the marriage documents before the separation, so that means the wedding never happened. Read what she wrote after the cut...

"On the 27th Nov 2016, Isaac and I did go to the altar to get married, butat the end of that day I realised one thing, icouldn't do it my heart was somewhere else. Probably in Africa doing what I do best, amstill trying to figure that out.

"I immediately left for Kenya and have been serving God the best way I know how. To all who supported isaacand iam greatfulmay God bless you immensely. To all who were hurt in the process I apologise. The marriage was annulled (like it never happenned). No papers were signed. Afterwards and we both made a decision to go our separate ways.

"I hope for your support and help as we move on. Like every other relationshipwe hit a rock, maybe a little too early but have since overcome. Consequently, we have decided to go our separate ways and hope for the very best. God bless you."

Shocking! How Saraki, Ekweremadu, Dogara Allegedly Stole N630m by Paying Rent to Themselves

Posted By: Unknown - 9:51 AM

Saraki, Ekweremadu, Dogara

A report by SaharaReporters has revealed that the quartet of Senate President, Bukola Saraki; his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu; House of Representatives Speaker, Yakubu Dogara; and his deputy, Lasun Yusuf, have been accused of financial fraud totaling N630,125,499.90.

According to the report, the accusation was made by an advocacy group, Citizens Action to Take Back Nigeria (CATBAN), which said the four principal officers of the National Assembly executed the fraud by pressuring and using the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) to provide them with accommodation. This is in spite of the fact that the monetization policy of the Federal Government bars all agencies from using taxpayers money for to meet personal demands of public officers outside the provisions of the law.

An independent investigation it conducted, disclosed CATBAN, showed that in March 2016, the four principal officers of the National Assembly approached the management of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) to provide them with residential accommodation. This, it said, was sequel to a plan perfected by an agent acting between the National Assembly and FCDA to steal money via dubious accommodation requests.

The requests, revealed CATBAN, were approved within 48 hours and followed with fund disbursement, an indication of the desperation to quickly get the money. The four principal officers added CATBAN, then presented companies that doubled as estate agents and property owners for the exercise. The companies used were Gogetit Investment Limited, which used a Zenith Bank account to receive the money, Legendark Consult Limited, which used a Guaranty Trust Bank account to reeive its own share, and Pitch Global Services, which has an account domiciled with Heritage Bank.

Through the four companies, CATBAN said it found that the sum of N630,125,499.90 was fraudulently paid by the FCDA for phoney renting, renovation and furnishing of four properties as official residences for Messrs. Saraki, Ekweremadu, Dogara and Lasun.

Messrs. Saraki and Dogara, the group noted, presented residential properties owned by them as rented houses, while Messrs. Ekweremadu and Lasun did not present any residential property, but collected their share of the money. The Senate President, for example, presented a property acquired while he was governor of Kwara State for which he was illegally paid a total sum of N200million.

For the property, which is located at No. 48 Lake Chad Crescent in Abuja’s Maitama District, Mr. Saraki received N113,095,238.00 and N11,904,761.90 in Value Added Tax (VAT) as rent.

For furnishing, he received N67,857,142.86 and VAT of N7,142,857.14.

On his part, the House of Representatives Speaker presented a property built for him by a controversial property developer also known as Alhaji AA Oil.  The house is located at 9 Persian Gulf Close, off Euphrates Street, Wuse 2, Abuja, the building illegally fetched Mr. Dogara N73m and VAT of N7m as rent. For furnishing, the Speaker creamed off N63m and VAT of N6m giving him an aggregate of N150m.

Deputy Senate President, Mr. Ekweremadu, who did not bother to present a property walked away with N90m and VAT of N9m a s rent, N45,084,285.72 plus VAT of N4,745,714.28 for furnishing, leaving him with a not exactly shoddy aggregate of N150m. The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, like Mr. Ekweremadu, did not present a property but netted a total of N130million.

According to CATBAN’s investigation, Mr. Lasun illegally got N62m and N6,571,428.58 in VAT for rent, while pocketing N55, 190,476.18 and VAT of N5,809,523.82 for furnishing

CATBAN noted that the discoveries made during its investigation have put a huge question mark on the integrity of the National Assembly leadership and brought into sharper focus the sweeping corruption afflicting the country. CATBAN argued that the affected principal officers must be made to refund the illegally taken sums.

“Based on the above, we demand an immediate refund of our taxpayers’ money stolen by these principal officers and subsequently call on the Nigerian Police Force and all relevant security agencies to wade into the situation and ensure that justice is served. We also want to remind all senators and members of House of Representatives that they are duty bound to ensure appropriate sanctions against their colleagues, who have soiled the image of the National Assembly,” said CATBAN.

The group warned that if members of the National Assembly fail to apply appropriate action against the affected officers, it will mobilise Nigerians to protest at the National Assembly Complex to demand appropriate action.

CATBAN argued that the National Assembly has all its statutory earning and allowances properly fixed and spelt out by the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) Act, 2002.

The law, CATBAN added, gives the National Assembly the power and control over its own budget and expenditure, including payment of all forms of allowances. The RMAFC, observed the group, calculates the remuneration packages for political, public and judicial office holders is calculated in relation to the percentages of their basic salaries.

“For example, each Nigerian Senator receives 150% of his/her annual basic salary as accommodation allowance, while each member of our Federal House of Representatives gets the same equivalent.

“In view of this, the appropriate accommodation allowance for the Senate President is N3,720,000.00 and that of his Deputy is N3,451,500.00. In the case of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, his accommodation allowance is N3,705,000.00, while his deputy is entitled to N3,435,000.00,” noted CATBAN.

The group said it established the fact that the National Assembly has always been well taken care of in terms of receipt of allocations and allowances, which implies that all members, including the principal officers of both chambers, have been promptly receiving the statutory allocations, including for accommodation
