President Muhammadu Buhari Speaks [READ]

Posted By: Unknown - 8:18 PM

Below is the complete inaugural speech of the new president:
I am immensely grateful to God Who Has preserved us to witness this day and this occasion. Today marks a triumph for Nigeria and an occasion to celebrate her freedom and cherish her democracy. Nigerians have shown their commitment to democracy and are determined to entrench its culture.
Our journey has not been easy but thanks to the determination of our people and strong support from friends abroad we have today a truly democratically elected government in place.

I would like to thank President Goodluck Jonathan for his display of statesmanship in setting a precedent for us that has now made our people proud to be Nigerians wherever they are. With the support and cooperation he has given to the transition process, he has made it possible for us to show the world that despite the perceived tension in the land we can be a united people capable of doing what is right for our nation. Together we co-operated to surprise the world that had come to expect only the worst from Nigeria. I hope this act of graciously accepting defeat by the outgoing President will become the standard of political conduct in the country.

While giving the directive to the miliary, President Buhari said:

General Buhari: His Past, His Present and The CHANGE

Posted By: Unknown - 7:45 AM

Buhari’s Metamorphosis
Following the successful execution of the 1983 coup, it was merely a necessity, by military tradition, for the new regime under Major General Muhammadu Buhari, to make a public announcement that it had ousted the previous government and come into power. This task was done by the then Brigadier-General Sani Abacha, who addressed Nigerians, announcing the take-over of power and suspension of the 1979 Constitution.

In announcing the new government, Abacha decried the state of affairs in the country, pointing out that the nation’s economic, health and education sectors needed to be salvaged from further degeneration, while unemployment, non-payment of workers’ salaries in some states, corruption and indiscipline were unchecked. Lamentably, most of the problems, which Buhari intervened to solve about 31 years ago, are still there as he settles in at Aso Rock in 2015.

SEE Real Reason Osun State Cannot Pay Workers Salaries

Posted By: Unknown - 7:40 AM

Impeccable sources within the Osun State Ministry of Finance have revealed to The Paradigm, real reason the state cannot pay workers salaries for the past six months.

Except sometime drastic actions are taken, the situation will continue for the next one year and more, The Paradigm can authoritatively confirm.

Government document shows the state received a net allocation of N111.3 billion between 2010 and 2014. However, the state wage bill far outweighs its income.

The state emoluments i.e. wages, salaries et al gulped N113.62 billion between the same period.

I HAVE DONE MY BEST: Jonathan Out, President Buhari In

Posted By: Unknown - 7:38 AM

Goodluck Jonathan took an assessment of his administration in the last five years and gave a verdict that he had done his best for Nigeria. He said he had impacted positively on key areas for the benefit of all.

Jonathan said this in his remarks before presenting his handover notes to President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The event, held inside the Council Chambers and witnessed by All Progressives Congress’ chiefs, took place shortly after Jonathan conducted Buhari round the seat of power.

Vice President Namadi Sambo had also similarly conducted the Vice President-elect, Yemi Osinbajo, round his wing of the villa.

Madam Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Has Been Exposed

Posted By: Unknown - 9:53 AM

Okonjo -Iweala’s hidden figuresThe country’s sordid economic realities should be an embarrassment to any finance minister and an international bureaucrat in the mould of Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole feels the former World Bank Managing Director has a lot of explanations to make as Coordinating Minister under whose watch the economy “collapsed”.

AS the country transits from one democratic dispensation to another, there is no gainsaying that the state of the nation’s economy is the focal point, especially with the unending fuel scarcity which is gradually grinding the nation to a halt.

No doubt, the best person to explain the state of the economy today is
Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy (CME), whose management of the nation’s resources, in these past four years, has elicited different reactions from Nigerians.

PRESIDENT JONATHAN BEGS BUHARI

Posted By: Unknown - 9:49 AM

From Friday May 29, 2015, Goodluck Jonathan no longer has the power to order anybody; Army, Police, SSS, etc. to arrest anyone or carry out any legal or illegal activities. The reality has dawned on him.
Consequently, Jonathan don't want to go down alone. He has pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari, who is taking over from him in the next few hours, not to single his administration out for probe.

He said if Buhari must investigate his administration, he should do same for the past governments.

President Buhari: This Is What Nigerians Are Waiting For

Posted By: Unknown - 9:44 AM

The ascendancy of Muhammadu Buhari to the exalted office of president and commander–in–chief of the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has been heralded by great expectations from the citizenry. And it is for good reason that Nigerians look up to him and his team for remediation of the presently suffocating conditions of living for a cross-section of the society.

That was why the mantra of ‘change’, which drove the campaign of his political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), enjoyed widespread acceptance across the country, as the results of the recently general polls proved.

As he is sworn into office today, hard-pressed Nigerians will assert the liberty to see the ‘change’ in the fortunes of the country, as promised by his political party.

Amaechi, The Lion of Niger Delta Politics, Strikes Gold

Posted By: Unknown - 9:37 AM

PREAMBLE
For a man to clock the golden age of 50 in a country like Nigeria where the life expectancy is much lower surely calls for a celebration. My good friend and political leader, Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, therefore has every reason to roll out the drums as he strikes gold today, Wednesday, May 27, 2015. Silver and gold have I none to give the man of the moment but at least I can pay him a tribute, chronicling how he emerged from humble circumstances to become one of shapers of modern Nigerian politics within his first 50 years of sojourn on earth.
As a close friend who has watched Amaechi from close quarters over a long period of time, I will attempt to expose what makes him tick politically and how he piloted the unseating of a sitting President and a political party that prided itself as the largest in Africa.

In my previous articles, I pointed out that His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi’s tie with the destiny of Rivers State is mysterious and different from that of any other political leader from the State. He is the only political leader so far who has played a key role in shaping the political future of the State who shares the same birthday with the State. Whilst he was born on May 27, 1965, Rivers State was created two years after on May 27, 1967. This, somehow, underscores why his commitment towards the emancipation and development of the State is total and unique.

Another unique thing about this great leader is that he shares the same date with the day on which Nigeria celebrates the Children’s Day. Inspired by the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Federal Government of Nigeria decided in 1964 – a year to the birth of Amaechi – to set aside the May 27 every year as Nigeria’s Children’s Day. On this special day the whole Nation celebrates the Nigerian Child and the Federal Government declares a public holiday for schools across the country. The day is usually marked with fanfare, featuring dances, singing by children in colourful dresses and youth parades considered by many as the highlights of the day.

Buhari Warns: It Is No More Business As Usual

Posted By: Unknown - 9:32 AM

President Muhammadu Buhari has reaffirmed his willingness to work with any leader that emerged from the normal process in the National Assembly, irrespective of what part of the country he comes from.

In a statement released in Abuja, Buhari said that this clarification has become necessary in view of the continued name-dropping in some circles linking his name to some candidates.

SHOCK!! Court Asked To Stop Buhari’s Inauguration On Friday

Posted By: Unknown - 4:09 PM

A group, Advocacy for Societal Rights Advancement and Development Initiative, has instituted a fresh suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja seeking to stop the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Mahmud Mohammed, from swearing the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday.

The suit filed on Tuesday is also seeking an order nullifying the certificate of return issued to Buhari by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, after he defeated Goodluk Jonathan.

The plaintiff hinged the suit on the allegation that Buhari did not qualify to contest the presidential election on the grounds that he gave false information about his academic qualification to INEC.

Can A Typical Nigerian Man Make A Good Husband?

Posted By: Unknown - 4:08 PM

We all agree Naija guys are fine, right? Some are real dream boats; tall, dark and handsome, the stuff many romance novels are made off. And they can be quite generous if they have the means and can get their way. And that's the big but if you're an educated and liberated woman who wants to find someone to love you for you, and to get married. Some husbands can get downright mean when they feel they're not getting the respect the deserve from their wives.

Even non-liberated Nigerian women, who simply are educated and want to "carry shoulder up" a little after marriage are emotionally or physically battered by their men. Some Nigerian husbands, though educated, want to live like their grandfathers when it comes to the culture of how women are expected to act and behave right, in the society in general. And how is this?

There are some great stories, of course. But one refrain stands out which I want to question today. A lot of women who are happily married to Nigerian men often echo each other when they say, "he's not a typical Nigerian man". It is either the man was born and raised abroad, travels outside the country a lot, or he likes marching to his own drum which includes loving his wife and being her friend as opposed to the culturally accepted "the husband is the head" in most Nigerian marriages.

Hamzat Bala of Follow The Money was harassed in the presidential villa by the Minister of Environment following some vital question on how the money was spent as they are not been transparent with the process...

When it has got to the point that someone whom is expected to conduct his or herself with some respect, loses his or her temper in the public place right in the presence of top dignitaries then one should know that, a whole lot is truly wrong with our polity as a nation.

When a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria whom by all standards should be a role model to lots of younger persons goofed and opt for verbal attacks on younger persons; who have determined to tow a different path particularly in safeguarding the interest of the masses and making sure what is generally meant for the public, should be given to them without any form of struggle or agitation.

This Is What Really Cost Jonathan Power In The End

Posted By: Unknown - 3:59 PM

First impressions, they say, are everything. Not the same for anyone who is president of a country like Nigeria. With Nigerians, last impressions are just as important as first impressions.

Goodluck Jonathan’s last week as President has seen Nigeria shut down due to power cuts and fuel scarcity. Lives have been lost, airlines cancelled flights, media houses and banks closing early, telecom companies declaring their services would be hampered by the scarcity of diesel.

One could argue, despite the turmoil that characterised his tenure, that this has been Jonathan’s worst week as President. In the midst of what has looked increasingly like a national security issue, the government has offered nothing in terms of explanations or an attempt to offer the way forward.

No Ex-Government Official Should Travel Out After May 29

Posted By: Unknown - 3:53 PM

Next week, Nigeria may start hearing different tales of big men and women travelling for 'medical checks' or other flimsy excuses, all in a bid to escape arrest and possible prosecution for corruption.

But one man is thinking ahead of them. Former Secretary to Government of the Federation, Yayale Ahmed, has charged the incoming Muhammadu Buhari government not to allow any top politician leave the country after May 29, especially those with cases to answer.

Yayale, who is the pro-chancellor and chairman of council of the Bayero University, Kano (BUK) gave the advice after presenting a paper at the 31st convocation lecture of the university.

Buhari To APC Governors: You Can’t Choose Ministers For Me

Posted By: Unknown - 12:54 PM

Many Nigerians know that General Muhammadu Buhari is not a man you can push around or dictate to and he is set to live up to that expectation. And if he sticks to his principles, Nigeria will be better off.

What looks like an early minute brow between Buhari and governors elected on the platform on the All Progressives Congress may be in the offing as the respected General has asked the governors to steer clear of his ministerial list.
