In a press conference held at KEDCO headquarters at Niger Street in Kano, he cried out that FG has been shortchanging Kano in the allocation of power supply from the national grid.
“I have always said, Kano were being shortchanged, even as we speak, DISCOS in Abuja among others are not finding it difficult like Kano. In the case of power drop, other DISCOS will get better share, while Kano will end up with zero allocation.
“When we intimated the system operators they will say they cannot transmit power to Kano because they may experience difficulties. Kano is not being treated fairly by the system operators. I blame them and they are biased”, MD KEDCO stressed.
Dr. Jamilu explained that the initial agreement signed between KEDCO and the federal government was clear that Kano will be given eight per cent of the total power generated in the country.
The MD KEDCO added that he requires between 270 to 300 megawatts daily to ensure eight hours daily supply to his customers in Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states respectively, including Gazuwa in Niger Republic, due to bilateral agreement signed between the two countries.
From 300 megawatts to just 2 megawats? We are in trouble in Nigeria.
