SAD: Ini Edo's Marriage Crashes, Returns Bride Price

Posted By: Mercy - 5:28 PM
Guys, marriage in Africa is different from marriage abroad. Any woman who insist that you must marry her the Oyinbo way just know that there is going to be problem, sooner or later. This is what we have been saying for long but some of you think we are just making noise.

If a man who has the money and really wants it, is allowed to marry another wife as our fathers used to do back in the days, there will be less trouble in marriages today. These days, men are exposed to too many stuffs and they want to explore, but their women always pretend to be conservative. That man will go out to explore other willing ladies, and there is nothing you can do about that. If you divorce him, there are many girls are waiting to take over from where you stop. Very true!

3 People Dead, As Tanker Explodes In Anambra (PHOTOS)

Posted By: Mercy - 6:57 AM

Three people yesterday lost their lives, while 30 others sustained various degrees of injuries yesterday when a gas laden tanker reportedly had a brake failure on Nkpor Bridge in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State and hit the protector pillars before bursting into flame.

It was gathered that the ill-fated tanker emptied its liquid content in the market, which led to escalation of the fire in Nkpor Market and resulted in more casualties.

Over 30 people, mostly market women, sustained degrees of injuries, while livestock, tubers of yam, clothes and other food items estimated at millions of naira were burnt.

About five vehicles were also destroyed by the inferno, which men of the fire service battled to put out without success.

Traffic was subsequently diverted to the Enugu/ Onitsha Expressway, where the incident occurred.

Confirming the incident, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ogidi Police Division, Mr. H. Musa said the incident occurred at about 4p.m., adding that his men collaborated with fire fighters to salvage the situation.

He, however said, "nobody died and those who were injured have been rushed to the Onitsha General Hospital and Borromeo Hospital."

Soldiers have captured Boko Haram's Monstrous Armored Tank

Nigerian military intelligence officials say they were surprised at the sophisticated weapons being used by the Boko Haram insurgents. The sources said Boko Haram fighters made another big and desperate push to take Konduga, a town that has been the scene of incessant battles and disastrous outings for Boko Haram fighters in recent weeks.

My Miracles Are Not Fake – TB Joshua Blasts Journalists

Posted By: Mercy - 8:17 AM

The founder of The Synagogue Church Of All Nation is going through a lot since the collapsed of a building in his church premises.

After the bad incident, some journalists decided to investigates if TB Joshua miracles are for real. After their investigation, they said his miracles are fake and the people who received his miracles and healings are faceless.

One of the journalists, Jacques Pauw said "I challenged the pilgrims to provide me with medical proof that they had been healed. None did."

TB Joshua took to his offical Facebook page to debunk the rumor, he said "Please note, all of The SCOAN services are public and broadcast live on Emmanuel TV," the statement read in part.

Joshua claimed that the media report was
false. According to him, the names of the people who alleged that the pastor performed fake miracles are fabricated.

"The writer(s) fabricated names of people who do not exist and remained nameless and faceless in order to hide their evil intentions. They need to be investigated," he said.

Joshua added, "It is our belief that these stories were intended to divert people's attention from the evil that has been done.
Expressing his displeasure over the report, he urged security operatives to investigate those behind the report.

The SCOAN founder said, "Those involved in
these stories need to be investigated concerning the building collapse. If they are not directly involved, they will help the investigation.

"If they are not the ones who did it, they know those who did. Perhaps, they were involved in the building collapse because they claim what is happening in The SCOAN is fake. They are suspect."

The statement also urged the Synagogue church adherents and supporters not to be misled by the said report.

"Do not be misled and diverted from the truth. No matter how long a lie is sustained, the truth will someday prevail. Jesus is the Truth," the statement urged.

Girl freed by Boko Haram pregnant, says Bitrus - Punch

Posted By: Mercy - 7:11 AM

The abducted "Chibok girl" released on Wednesday is "pregnant and mentally ill," the National Chairman of Chibok Community Development Association, Dr. Pogu Bitrus, has told TheCable.

Earlier on Thursday, the police revealed that the 20-year-old girl was abandoned by suspected terrorists at Mubi in Adamawa State, from where she was picked up. It also confirmed that she was one of the female pupils of Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, abducted in April by Boko Haram.

However, Bitrus said it was still uncertain if the girl was from Chibok because her name did not correspond with any of the names in the records of the girls that were captured by Boko Haram on April 14.

"I was speaking Kibaku to her, but she did not respond; she was incoherent. She may be having mental issues as a result of trauma," he said.

Bitrus added that preliminary tests – still not definitive – indicated that the girl is pregnant.

He added, "When she was picked up, she was taken to a clinic, not a standard hospital, and tests were carried out on her.

"From the tests, it was said she is pregnant, but that is still in the speculative domain because a qualified medical doctor has not confirmed that she is pregnant.

"However, we are still trying to establish if really she is from Chibok, because from our sources, the last name of the released girl does not tally with the surname of the person bearing the first name of the released girl captured in our records and whose father is a carpenter at Chibok. So, we are still trying to work out every detail."

S’African victims’ relations set to sue TB Joshua - PUNCH

Posted By: Mercy - 6:35 AM

Two South Africans who lost relatives when a church hostel in Lagos collapsed have told the BBC they intend to sue the General Overseer of Synagogue Church of All Nations, Pastor Temitope Joshua.

The BBC reported that the two men, who both lost sisters in the collapse, were appealing for more families to come together in bringing a case against the preacher.

At least 115 people, including 84 South Africans, died when the multi-storey building fell down on September 12.

The authorities said it had more floors than its foundation could hold.

On Sunday, Joshua announced plans to travel to South Africa to visit the families of the deceased.

Officials suspect the foundations were not suitable for extra floors to be added to the building

Emergency workers alleged they were prevented from participating in the rescue, only gaining full access to the site on Sunday afternoon. But Joshua had denied these accusations.

"I understand that some families are afraid to take on someone who purports to be God's messenger and I don't blame them but I will do this," Thanduxolo Doro, whose sister died in the Lagos collapse said.

Thanduxolo Doro and Mpho Molebatsi waited at Johannesburg's OR Tambo airport for days after the collapse for news of their sisters, who had been visiting SCOAN.

Both families had last heard from their relatives hours before the collapse.

"It is not that the building collapsed, rather what was done after the collapse – we didn't get any news from the church," Doro, whose sister Vathiswa Madikiza died, told the BBC.

"When I contacted them they wouldn't tell me anything. We saw reports that emergency workers were denied access initially, access that could have saved lives. The actions of the church after the incident are very telling," he said.

In an open letter published in South Africa's Star newspaper, Doro called on more families to sue Joshua.

"I need to do this for her. Even if I stand alone, I am determined to see that something is done," he told the BBC.

"I understand that some families are afraid to take on someone who purports to be God's messenger and I don't blame them but I will do this," he said.

Doro said he was informed by South African officials about his sister's death this week, but had to wait for the results of the DNA tests before her body could be repatriated for burial.

Photo: See The Rough Things Happening During Office Romance

Posted By: Mercy - 6:09 AM

When Ikenna and Uloma met at their workplace about a decade ago, they never knew they would end up as husband and wife.

As fate would have it, they soon fell in love with each other and began dating. They were soon confronted with a big challenge; their office frowned on open amorous relationship between members of staff.
Yet, their love blossomed everyday and at a point, they agreed to take it further by promising each other marriage.

Knowing the company's policy on two members of staff getting married, Ikenna made sure Uloma secured a job before they got married. Shortly before their marriage, Uloma resigned.

The same cannot be said of Biola and Amiola who are software application developers for an Information and Communication Technology firm. Both are brilliant and were the pride of their company. Some software they developed helped their company become a leading force in the ICT world and it helped their stock rise in the capital market.

Things were beautiful for them until they both became an item. Their relationship blossomed and was leading to marriage until they realised they both had...

The same genotype, AS. Knowing this would most likely spell doom for them in future as they could have children with sickle cell anaemia, they had to part ways.

Their break-up affected them seriously because they were genuinely in love and it reflected on their work. From being one of the most brilliant minds in the company, they became another number in the company.

Because of the fallouts of their breakup, a policy was made against two members of staff engaging in serious relationship.
Kelvin and Isioma who met at work six years ago got married about three months ago to the astonishment of their colleagues who had no idea that they were dating.

Both were at one time or the other employees of the year and were favourites of virtually everybody at work. Although their company frowned on relationships within the office, because of their dedication to work, it took it upon itself to sponsor their wedding.

Adesoye Joshua, an executive at the Lua Concept Interior Design, believes that an amorous relationship among co-workers reduces the productive output of an organisation. He told Saturday Breeze that he cannot subscribe to such relationships.
"When people are in a relationship, they tend to talk a lot and spend so much time on idle chats at the expense of the company. Especially during the early stage of their relationship, they would want to be together all the time," he said.

The interior decorator said that his company was indifferent to the issue. He told Saturday Breeze that an action by one or both parties could affect the business of the office negatively.

Joshua said, "If either of the spouses is a jealous one, it could spell trouble for the company they work for. A jealous mind cannot work efficiently. Also there is the break-up aspect. It is not all relationships that work out as planned. If they break up, there could be a serious breakdown of productivity from the heartbroken depending on how emotional the person is.

A young lady, Nike Adeniji who worked with an advertising company narrated to Saturday Breeze how she got her fingers burnt because of an office dalliance she got involved in. As someone who cherishes respect, she lamented that she got the exact opposite when she went into a relationship with a fellow worker.

Adeniji said,"I got engaged in an office romance some years back at the advertising firm I worked for. Before, I was indifferent to it because I know some people who met at work and later got married. When the guy approached me, I was reluctant but l later accepted his advances after several rejections. At first, we were very close friends at work till I agreed to be his girlfriend. He was so polite and was always there for me especially when my father died. I think it was one of the reasons I agreed to his advances after seeing how caring he was. But several months into the relationship, I noticed that he began to act differently.

"Even when I invited him out on weekends, he would tell me that we would always see in the office. This was a guy that would be disturbing me from Wednesday for us to hang out on weekends. He also became disrespectful towards me especially in the office regardless of who was around. When I could not take it anymore, I decided to call it quits. He later came back begging but by then, it was too late. I have promised myself I would not be romantically involved with any co-worker anymore; there are other men outside the office space."

The reputation of a lady simply identified as Belinda who used to work for a leading insurance company in Lagos took a dip due to an office romance she got involved in. She was involved in a messy affair between two men.

An employee of the firm told Saturday Breeze that Belinda was having an affair with two men in the company; the Managing Director of the firm and another fellow worker, Franklin.

When Franklin, who had hoped to marry Belinda realised she was dating his boss, he wanted to call it quits but couldn't for fear of what the light-skinned young lady would do to him.

Months later, he met a girl, Nkechi, and a whirlwind romance started. He soon began arrangements to get married to the girl but before then, he told her about Belinda.

"When Franklin met Nkechi, they hit it off almost immediately and they were very compatible with each other. As they were getting serious, he confided in her what was happening in his office between him and Belinda

She told him that before they could get married, he had to call it quits with Belinda and he agreed. But Belinda proved a hard nut as she told Franklin to stop the bad joke. She threatened him to get serious because any attempt for him to dump her would result in his sacking from the company. He knew she was not bluffing so his hands were tied ironically, the managing director was a married man. When things were beginning to become messy and the board of directors heard of what was happening, the MD was sanctioned and Belinda was asked to leave. Franklin is still with us but told us that he would never be involved in such romance in his life."

Franklin is now a senior executive at the firm and is married to Nkechi. They have two children together and nothing has been heard of Belinda ever since.

However, the tale of those who are romantically involved with their colleagues is not always a sad one. Most of those who engaged in such relationships are now married with kids and have happily-ever-after stories to tell.

So is the case of the Olopades who now reside in Canada. Bukie, now a mother, told Saturday Breeze that she met her husband while they both worked in a first generation bank in the 90s. She said that the downside to their amorous relationship was that the company's policy forbade a woman is changing her name even after marriage.
"My husband and I met when we worked for a first generation bank. We dated for some months and we got married. Our company permitted us to get married and still worked together but women are not allowed to change their names to their husbands'. After some months, I opted for transfer but that was solely our decision. If I had wanted to remain in that branch, I would have but we felt it was for the best," she said.

Mrs. Gbamgbose, a worker in the Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, said that she met her late husband in the ministry in the early 80s. Now a grandmother, she thanked God for her work as she almost turned down the job when it was offered to her. If she had, she said she probably would never have met her husband whom she believes was destined for her from heaven.

Gbamgbose said, "I met Dada while we were both working in the ministry. He is dead now and I miss him everyday but I thank God he was in my life. I almost rejected the job because I had another offer then. My parents and friends advised me to accept the job and I agreed. Dada was my boss and I was shocked when he made romantic advances towards me. I saw him as an upright man and whenever he brought up the topic, I could see the seriousness in his eyes so I gave him a chance and it was worth it."

The civil servant advised that if one must go into a relationship with a fellow worker, then it must be certain that it would end well for the sake of both parties and the company.

"I do not frown on the idea of being in a romantic relationship with someone in your office. I would only advise that both parties should know what they are doing before they venture into it because it is not easy to sustain such relationships. They have to know that it could lead to marriage and so they should be careful," she said.

Is the South African media Telling the Truth about TB Joshua?

Posted By: Mercy - 11:01 AM
As article after article is published about Nigerian Pastor T.B. Joshua in the wake of his tragic church building collapse, the bigotry and bias unashamedly displayed by the South African media have finally compelled me to react.

I must confess I don’t often attempt to order my eclectic myriad of ruminations into words, especially on such a sensitive, sorrowful issue. As a patriotic South African, I am still trying to come to terms with the tragic incident that veiled our country in a cloak of sadness this week. My heart bleeds for those who lost loved ones in the church collapse in Lagos, Nigeria that sent 84 salvation-seeking South Africans to an early grave. May their souls rest in perfect, permanent peace.
