A police corporal attached to the Convoy patrol Division
Morogbo, Lagos State police command is lying critically ill in the
hospital after suspected gun men stabbed him in the eye and left him for
dead.
It was gathered that the corporal identified as Isiaka Liadi was stabbed in his left eye with a dangerous weapon after suspected gun men attacked a police convoy while on patrol at the Morogbo area of the state on February 2nd.
The Lagos state police spokes person, DSP Kenneth Nwosu confirmed the incident.
He told Naij.com, “on February 2nd at about 09.08pm, policemen led by
ASP. Usman Jimoh attached to Convoy Patrol Morogbo Division and his
team were ambushed and attacked by hoodlums with dangerous objects which
led to CPL. Isiaka Liadi sustaining severe injury on his left eye”
DSP Nwosu however added that the police have arrested members of the gang who attacked the policemen and they will be prosecuted soon.
He said “In a bust up operation on February 8th, policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer, SP. Akintade William, arrested seven notorious armed robbers and cultists who have been terrorizing the inhabitants of the area from their various hideouts. They are Adebayo Tomoloju 27, Christian Mathew 24, Olaotan Joshua , 24, Oladele Alade ,22 Ogene Ochuko , and Ajayi Peter 20. The suspects confessed to be responsible for killings, robbery, bag snatching with motorcycles in areas like Okokomaiko, Magbon, Pure water, Aradagun.
Items recovered from the hoodlums are one locally made single Barrel pistol, one dame gun, one long jack knife, one toy Pistol, one axe, one cutlass, one UTC sharp knife, one kitchen knife, two motorcycles and assorted charms.Effort is on to arrest the fleeing members of the gang. Case is under investigation at Special Anti – Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja”.
In a related incident involving battle between robbers and the police, a group of gunmen were involved in a heavy battle with lawmen in Ikare, Ondo State last month which led to injury of four policemen.
A week ago, it was a different story as policemen were able to dominate when they succeeded in arresting three school graduates after a robbery raid.
