A 30-year-old man, Bello Muhammed has done the abominable
in Jigawa state.Vanguard reports that Bello allegedly impregnated a
mentally derailed young girl, Daharatu Isyaku, who is aged 18. Bello who
has since been arrested over the issue by the Operatives of Jigawa
State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC is
cooling off his heels with them.
While parading him yesterday in Dutse, Dr. Muhammad Gidado who is the state Commandant of the Corps made it known that the suspect during interrogation admitted that he committed the crime. He also said the agency was still investigating the matter to be sure if the offense was committed for ritual purposes or not. The state Commandant also said that the suspect had other accomplices who he named during interrogation; These people he said would not go without being investigated and unpunished if found guilty.
Dr. Muhammed, however, disclosed that the girl was currently in the custody of the agency because of her condition. He also made it known that the agency was also trying to contact her family, enjoined parents and guardians to take their mentally-imbalanced children to psychiatric hospitals for medical attention to avoid abuse.
