Gani Adams |
Otunba Gani Adams, the coordinator of Odu’a Peoples
Congress of Nigeria (OPC), explains why in his opinion Gen Muhammadu
Buhari (retd.), the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate,
can’t bring change to Nigeria.
According to Adams, the situation in the country is “over rotten” and Buhari can’t change it, despite the slogan widely promoted by the opposition.
PM News reports that the Yoruba group leader, however, admitted that President Goodluck Jonathan has his shortcomings, especially, in the area of security, which has resulted in the abduction of over the Chibok girls.
Speaking on Friday in Abeokuta, Ogun state, the official also stated
that he and more than 50,000 OPC members would vote for Jonathan on
March 28. Adams believes that the incumbent president has done his best
to effect the change but certain factors are militating against his
efforts.
“I don’t believe in individual change, our system is over rotten. When we are looking for change, it’s about our constitution and the institutions. Buhari cannot change the system.
“Although, the All Progressive Congress (APC) has been calling for change in almost all the sectors in the country, believing that, General Muhammed Buhari would effect the change if he becomes the president, it is only when the constitution and the structure changes that change can come. No President can perform any miracle to change things in this country as it is now.
“On the Chibok girls, I believe those girls are not in Nigeria, the government should search beyond Nigeria, they should search Niger and Chad Republic for them.”
Adams has recently stated that GEJ would win Lagos in the presidential election saying that “85 per cent of Lagosians want Jonathan”. Despite restating commitment to Jonathan, the OPC official, however, urged the two major candidates to stop blackmailing each other and start convincing Nigerians with facts.
