Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has surprised residents of the state in an unexpected reaction to the All Progressive Congress (APC) victory in March 28 presidential elections.

The state government in a statement issued on Tuesday signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Peter Okhiria, declared a work-free day in the state today (Wednesday), to celebrate the historic victory of General Muhammadu Buhari, the APC presidential candidate.

Okhiria stated that the state governor invites people of the state to a victory party which will hold at the Oba Ovoranmwen Square, Benin City starting from 3:00pm on Wednesday.

“Top artistes, including Davido, Patoranking, Osayomore Joseph, Young Bolivia, among others, will perform at the party to celebrate General Buhari’s victory” he said.

The governor, who had earlier congratulated the President elect, described the elections outcome as a new dawn in Nigeria’s political history.

However, President Goodluck Jonathan, who took the defeat in good faith has delivered a concession speech in which he congratulated Buhari on his victory, thanked the voters and security agents for enabling peaceful polls.
