Westerners have the reputation for upholding their laws
irrespective of whose ox is gored. So Johnny Depp’s celebrity status did
not exempt him from facing punishment when he flouted the law.
Here’s what happened.:
Johnny Depp arrived in Australia sometime in April for the filming of
the latest instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. He
came in with his pet dogs, Yorkshire terriers named Boo and Pistol, and
he did not alert the Australian authorities to the presence of his pets.
So he was told to move his dogs out of Australia or they would be put down.
Australia’s immigration minister, Peter Dutton, asked for an up-to-date report into how the Hollywood celebrity and movie star, Johnny Depp’s pet dogs got into the country, as a countdown to the threat of euthanasia continues.
This prompted Australia’s agriculture minister, Barnaby Joyce, to issue Johnny Depp with an ultimatum: take the dogs out of Australia within 50 hours or they will face termination.
Joyce said that a 51-year-old man, Jonathan Christopher Depp, decided to bring two dogs to “our nation, despite not getting the proper certification and the proper permits required. Basically it looked like he snuck them in.”
The dogs were discovered when a picture was posted on Facebook of them at grooming parlour.

“It’s time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back to the United States,” Joyce said on Thursday morning. “He [Depp] can put them on the same chartered jet he flew out on to fly them back out of our nation.”
“All animals being brought into Australia must have an import
permit, must meet Australia’s strict, science-based import conditions
and must be declared on a cargo manifest,” Dutton said.
Depp now has approximately 1 day, 6 hours and some minutes to get his pets out of there.
No word has been heard yet from the movie star’s team as the press has been seen camped outside his rented home since the news of the quarantine breach surfaced.
