The two aggrieved governors dissociated themselves from the APC.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday met with two aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who last week declared they did not join the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governors Sule Lamido of Jigawa and Babangida Aliyu were among the group of seven aggrieved PDP governors who formed the 'New PDP.'

However when the 'New PDP' announced last week that it was merging with the APC, the two governors dissociated themselves from the merger, saying they would await the outcome of their meeting with Mr. Jonathan.

The five governors who joined the APC were Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Abdulfatah Ahmed (Kwara), Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano) and Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto).

Shortly before the commencement of the meeting with the President, there was another meeting at a separate venue in the presidential villa that was attended by Vice President Namadi Sambo, PDP governors and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Pius Anyim.

Details of the earlier meeting, which started at about 7:30 p.m. and ended at abut 8:40 p.m., was not disclosed to journalists who were not allowed to cover the meeting.

Governors present at the meeting included Emmanuel Uduaghan (Delta), Theodore Orji (Abia), Isa Yuguda (Bauchi), Jonah Jang (Plateau), Ibrahim Shema (Katsina), Seriake Dickson (Bayelsa) Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom), Martins Elechi (Ebonyi), Sullivan Chime (Enugu), Idris Wada (Kogi), and Liyel Imoke (Cross River).

The deputy governors of Niger and Kaduna were also at the meeting.

After the conclusion of the meeting held at House 7 in the Presidential Villa, the meeting between the president and the aggrieved governors commenced at the First Lady's Conference room.

The meeting was still on as at 10:30p.m.
