Akwa Ibom State is set to unveil her most current wonder of uncommon transformation on Friday, November 7, 2014.
Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio will receive Mr President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in company of two visiting West African leaders – The President of Côte d’Ivoire, Alassane Ouattara and the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama.
Together, they will commission the brand-new, 30,000-seater ultramodern stadium in Uyo, the state capital, begun and completed in a record time of just 2 years.
Akwa Ibom State is already the toast of football world, It will on the opening day host the home-based Super Eagles and the Black Meteors of Ghana in an international friendly; and has also been penciled down to play host to the crucial world cup qualifying encounter between Nigeria and South Africa on November 19, 2014.
Also expected at the stadium opening are representatives from World Football ruling bodies such as FIFA, The Confederation of African Football, CAF and the Nigeria Football Federation.
