The 91-year-old Austrian-American chemist and author, who invented contraceptive pill, Prof Carl Djerassi had on Sunday, November 9, 2014, predicted that by 2050, s*x will be just for fun and large numbers of babies in the Western world will be born through In Vitro Fertilization, IVF.

He disclosed this in an interview with Sunday Telegraph where he stated that the Pill will become obsolete in the future as couples will choose to freeze their eggs and s***m when they're young, before getting sterilized.

From his own opinion, he believes that this will end abortions as there will be no unplanned or unwanted pregnancies.

He also noted that with the rate of advancement in fertility treatment, it safer for couples without fertility problems to consider IVF as the an alternative.

Furthermore, he foresaw that rise of a 'Manana generation' which means that couples will defer parenthood t will without much stress adding that the children will be healthier because of eggs and s***m being frozen when the parents were younger.

He said, 'The vast majority of women who will choose IVF in the future will be fertile women who have frozen their eggs and delayed pregnancy.'

'Women in their 20s will first choose this approach as insurance, providing them with freedom in the light of professional decisions, or the absence of the right partner, or the inexorable ticking of the biological clock.

'However I predict that many of these women will in fact decide to be fertilised by IVF methods because of the advances in genetic screening. And once that happens then IVF will start to become a normal non-coital method of having children,' he added.

"Over the next few decades, say by the year 2050, more IVF fertilisations will occur among fertile women than the current five million fertility-impaired ones.

"For them the separation between s*x and reproduction will be 100 per cent."
