Read What Politicians Are Doing With Thugs In Maiduguri
Following aspirants scrambling for space to paste their posters in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, politicians have derived a new means to make sure their posters stay in the place it was pasted.

Weekly Trust reports that politicians have started hiring political thugs to watch over their posters in order to make sure it stays where it’s pasted to capture the attention of the electorate.

It was reliably gathered that there has been no recorded violence by supporters of the leading political parties comprising the All Progressive Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but what is evident is what analysts call a “war of posters”.

The precarious security situation in the state, due to the capturing of some local government areas by Boko Haram sect members, politicians have restricted their campaigns to Maiduguri.

However, it is very common to see the posters in Maiduguri, of someone seeking to represent Gamboru Ngala or Hawul, or Monguno in the state House of Assembly.

A House of Reps candidate who spoke on condition of anonymity said: “i spent over one million naira to produce three big billboards but they were all vandalized, that is why I recruited thugs to be guarding the new ones I did. They stand close to them during the daytime and we don’t have problem at night because of the curfew.”
