Anambra guber election: Police deploy 8,000 officers

The citizens of Anambra state will decide who will be their next governor in a tightly contested election Saturday.

The major contenders to suceed outgoing governor, Peter Obi, are: Senator Chris Ngige (APC), Chief Willie Obiano (APGA), Tony Nwoye (PDP), and Ifeanyi Uba (Labour Party).

The election will take place at 4,608 polling units and 326 wards in 21 local government areas of the state.

The Inspector General of Police Mohammed Abubakar and three Assistant Inspectors-General of Poice will lead more than 8,000 police officers with 10 armoured carriers  to provide security during the election. The Nigerian military has also deployed fighter jets and armed navy boats to the state.
