The Edo State Command of the FRSC has confirmed the death of a family of five in a car crash at Okada junction on the Benin-Ore highway.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the family lost their lives on Nov.6 while returning from Lagos after seeing off a relation who travelled to America.
Dr Kingsley Okafor, President of the Association of Resident Doctors at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Benin on Thursday that their member, Dr Ralph Omojefe, was affected in the accident.
He said that Omojefe, who worked in the Morbid Anatomy Department of the hospital, lost his three children and an uncle in the accident.
Okafor said that the association had paid a condolence visit to the family of Omojefe while his wife and remaining members of his family had been taken to their village in Delta.
He said that members of the association had declared a seven-day mourning period and would wear black arm band as a mark of respect for their colleague.
"We will observe a minute silence everyday before any clinic session," he said.
Mr John Andei, the Public Enlightenment Officer of the FRSC in Edo, said that the command had not received details of the accident.
