Although it sounds like a clever ploy, psychologists say that making love can boost intelligence. That's in addition to previous research which shows that sex not only helps to decrease your stress levels but also burns up calories.

The latest research, conducted on mice, found that love-making greatly increased the creation of neurons located within the hippocampus, an area of the brain that is responsible for the formation of long-term memory.

And stopping the mice from having sex led to a fall-off in their intelligence, the psychologists from the University of Maryland were quoted as saying.

'We discovered that even though there had been the production of new neurons, the cognitive abilities acquired during the experiment decreased once the mice were subjected to long periods without sexual activity,' they said.

Previous research shows that sex not only helps to decrease your stress levels but also burns up calories.

LOL, lemme laugh a little. Maria Montenez-Colon, of Punta Gorda, Fla., was arrested Friday night for misuse of 911 after she allegedly asked a responding officer for sex because she had not been 'penetrated in years.'. Brave woman, well done.

The NYdailynews reports that a Florida woman who described herself as "horny" allegedly summoned a cop to her home and tried to have sex with him pleading "I haven't been penetrated in years!"

Maria Montenez-Colon, 58, was arrested Friday night in the misuse of 911. The officer drove to her home in Punta Gorda after she reportedly told a dispatcher that she wanted her late husband's Corvette back after giving it to her son, authorities said.

"You can f--k me," she said, according to an arrest report obtained. She allegedly grabbed the cop's arm and tried to rub her hands across his chest so he told her that her behavior was inappropriate.

"I'm bad, I know," she replied, the report states.

Before leaving, the officer gave Montenez-Colon his business card and advised her to call the police department through a non-emergency line for non-emergencies.
Despite this advice, Montenez-Colon dialed 911 a second time to say the last officer "p-ssed her off" and asked to see another.

The original officer returned with a second officer. She explained again that she called 911 a second time because their first encounter infuriated her.

"He was a perfect gentleman, but when I asked him to f--k me, he turned me down so that made me angry."
The first officer asked if Montenez-Colon remembered their conversation about not using 911 in non-emergency circumstances.

"I do," she allegedly said, "but how else am I going to get you to f--k me?"
Montenez-Colon was arrested, handcuffed and booked into Charlotte County Jail.

This 15-Year-Old Boy Was Exchanged For Two Bags Of Rice In Lagos [Photo]

A yet to be identified man on Monday successfully traded a 15-year old boy, Seun Aderinwale, for two bags of rice valued at N20,000 at Igando in Alimosho area of Lagos State.

According to eyewitness account, the man, whose address is unknown, went to 4, Ifesowapo Street, Igando, on Monday morning to buy two bags of rice from a shop owned by a woman identified as Iya Ibrahim.

The rice seller was not available at the time but her son, Ibrahim, agreed to the man's proposal to drop Seun, an Aluminium apprentice, as collateral, in order to collect the two bags  of rice and return later to pay. However, when the shop owner returned in the afternoon, she was surprised to see Seun who was dropped there in exchange for the two bags of rice taken away by the unidentified man. When the man failed to return, the 15-year old was held hostage until evening when the pastor of his church, a Celestial Church of Christ around the area, saw him at the shop looking despondent.

When Seun was questioned on how he came about the fraudster, he said he met him casually at Hotel Bus Stop about 300 metres to his residence where a church member had sent him on an errand to play lotto, popularly known as "Baba Ijebu". Seun said he did not know the man's house or have other information about him.

The teenager later regained his freedom when the Celestial Church pastor, known simply as Oluso in the neighborhood, settled the matter with Iya Ibrahim, the rice seller. He said the woman should take responsibility for one of the stolen bags of rice while Seun's father, a co-worker with him in the church, should pay for the other bag of rice when he returned from his trip to Ifo in Ogun State. Seun's  father agreed to pay N10,000 for the bag of rice when he returned from Ifo.

P.M.NEWS learnt that the rice seller agreed to the pastor's proposal and did not report the matter to the police.

"If I report the incident to the police, I cannot leave the station without spending money. Therefore, it is better for me to accept the proposal by Oluso, the rice seller told residents who gathered in front of her shop to watch the drama.

When Ibrahim was questioned why he allowed such an unusual arrangement, he told residents that the conman asked for two and half bags of rice, adding, "when the motorcycle was about to go with the two bags, I asked for the money but Seun assured me he was coming back for the half bag. He even claimed to be a close relation of the man."

However, some hours after the man had disappeared and failed to return, Ibrahim said Seun retracted his earlier statement, saying he did not know the man.

SEX: 6 Most Common Regrets Men And Women Have

A new study suggests men and women have very different pangs of regret in relation to sex affairs.

While men wish they were better at picking up women or taking them to bed, women say they regret who they lost their virginity to or moving too fast sexually, according to results of a UCLA and University of Texas study.

"For men, throughout evolutionary history, every missed opportunity to have sex with a new partner was potentially a missed reproductive opportunity – a costly loss from an evolutionary perspective," Dr. Martie Haselton, the study's co-author and UCLA professor, said.

Meanwhile, women had to worry about the possibility of nine months of pregnancy and caring for a baby.

More than 24,000 people were asked about their sexual regrets in a series of studies. Respondents were asked to look at hypothetical situations. Then they looked at a list of common regrets and had to tick off which applied to them. Straight, gay, lesbian and bisexual respondents all took part in the study.

Here were the three most common regrets for men:
- Being too shy to make a move on a prospective sexual partner (27 per cent)
- Not being more sexually adventurous when they were young (23 per cent)
- Not being more sexually adventurous when they were single (19 per cent)

And here were the three most common regrets for women:
- Losing their virginity to the wrong partner (24 per cent)
- Cheating on a present or past partner (23 per cent)
- Moving too fast sexually (20 per cent)

More women than men even said having sex with an unattractive partner was their top regret.

Across the board, men and women were having equal amounts of casual sex, but it was women who felt more remorse over those encounters. This was the same in gay, lesbian and bisexual hookups – women always felt regret more often and more intensely.

Skales Denies Signing A Record Deal With Timaya's Dem Mama Records

Few days after news broke that Skales and EME parted ways, he was spotted at Timaya's Lekki Phase 1 home in Lagos which sparked rumours that he was joining the Dancehall singer's Dem Mama records. Skales however says the news is completely false:

'It's not true. I'm not signed with Timaya or Dem Mama Records. I'm just doing my thing. Timaya is my friend and that's what it is', Skales told NET over the telephone.

6-Day-Old Girl Mauled To Death By Family Pet Dog [Photos]

The body of Eliza-Mae Martha Mullane was found by her mother Sharon John after the infant was apparently mauled by a male Alaskan Malamute, a powerful, husky-type dog bred for pulling sleds.

She was airlifted to hospital, but she was dead before the ambulance arrived.

The pet was said by neighbours to have been with the family for just a few months after the little girl's father Patrick Mullane, a scrap metal dealer, arrived home with the animal after a night out.

SHOCK - This Woman Raped A Robber Who Broke Into Her Salon For THREE Days [Photo]

A Russian man,Viktor Jasinski, 32, was reportedly captured and kept as a sex slave after he tried to break into a hair salon.

The owner of the salon, a woman  identified as Olga Zajac, overpowered him  tied him up naked and then used him as a sex slave for three days.

Jasinski admitted to the police that  he had gone to the salon in Meshchovsk, Russia, with the intention of robbing it but the tables were turned dramatically when he found himself overcome by owner Olga Zajac, 28, who happened to be a black belt in karate.  She allegedly floored the would-be robber with a single kick.

Then, in a scene reminiscent of Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction, police say Zajac dragged the semi-conscious Jasinski to a back room of the salon and tied him up with a hair dryer cable.

She allegedly stripped him naked and, for the next three days, used him as a sex slave to 'teach him a lesson' force feeding him Viagra to keep the lesson going. The would-be robber was eventually released, with Zajak saying he had learned his lesson.

Jasinski went straight to the police and told them of his back-room ordeal, saying that he had been held hostage, handcuffed naked to a radiator, and fed nothing but Viagra. Both have now been arrested.

When police arrived to question Zahjac, she said: 'What a bastard. Yes, we had sex a couple of times. But I bought him new jeans, gave him food and even gave him 1,000 roubles when he left."

Syrian Girl Stoned To Death For 'IMMORAL BEHAVIOUR' Of Having A Facebook Account

A Syrian girl has been stoned to death for opening a Facebook account, it has been claimed.

The girl, named in media reports as Fatoum Al-Jassem, was sentenced to death by a Sharia court in Al-Reqqa after it ruled having a Facebook account was immoral behaviour.

She was taken to the court by Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants after she was caught using the social networking site, it has been reported.

The ISIS is a pro-Al Qaida jihadist group that many fear is taking an iron grip over parts of Syria.

The town's women, meanwhile, have been ordered by ISIS via posters to 'cover up their beauty', according to CNN, and banned from seeing male doctors or even leaving home without a male relative.

Youtube Deletes Olu Maintain's “Enuff Efizzi” Video

In what could be called the most expensive music video by a Nigerian Artist, Olu Maintain's ' Enuff Efizzi' which this writer reviewed two days ago has been deleted by Youtube. According to Youtube, the content of the video violated their terms of service.

Like this writer stated in the review, Olu's 'Enuff Efizzi' was a very unusual music video. The entire scenes of the said video did not match the accompanied audio. When you have a 4/4 tempo tune where one would have expected him to showcase our culture through this video, he opted like he did in his last video to fool around with an unlit cigar, wearing chains inside a jacuzzi , the entire concept to me doesn't make any sense. Viewers also saw Olu having a deep kiss with one of the models. It was also disgusting seeing him with unshaven armpit while he tries to portray a clean outlook.
Now, my personal opinion above may not be the reason why his multi-million project was deleted. The melody of the said song was composed off a bass line of a popular song that made waves in the 80's which I also mentioned in my write up. Olu quickly deleted my review on his timeline as soon as he read my remarks.

In the past, an artist could buy a Youtube views and gets away with it, Youtube now has a mechanism that makes it practically impossible for you to try that scam which made many musicians overnight 'stars'. This video by Olu Maintain is what I will call a lost opportunity. Olu really raised the bar in that video. The picture quality is second to none. The models, locations were all carefully selected. Olu's 'Enuff Efizzi's video is a display of affluence, flaboyancy as most acts abroad do in their video. Why Youtube used a sledge hammer on it, might not be un connected with what I stated above.

In all, Olu can still re-edit and repost that video, abiding by Youtube guidelines. If he fails to do so, the entire millions of naira spent in making that video will be a waste. Olu may never recover from the shock. I wish this local based bro, the best of luck .

I Smoked For 21 Years To Manage Anger - Pete Edochie Opens Up

In this chat with the Tribune's JOAN OMIONAWELE, the ace broadcaster/actor described his world and his life as an actor. Its quite long so i'll just give you excerpts from the interview and you can see the full interview Here.

you were rumoured to have died last year; how did that make you feel?
It did not make me feel anything.

So you did not feel bad that people wanted you dead?
If you know me and my character make-up, I don't bother very much about what people say about me; I have my life to live. From my philosophical persuasion, I am a Fabian, and I believe that the end must justify the means. That does not mean that you must give everything to get something, but if you make up your mind, make sure you are not obsessed with getting to step on the toes of people. It's a question of conviction and resistance. So, I wasn't bothered.

People have said you withdrew from movies because you were kidnapped years back...
I did not. I decided to pursue an undying vision, an assignment I was given by the church, and I gave priority treatment to that. I still act but that's when I have the time. I am in Lagos today, and by the time a role comes, I will be in Aba. I did six movie productions last year. 

Let me take you back to the year you were kidnapped. Do you still think about it?
No, though once in a while you recall an experience that is haunting; but what can we do when we are in a country with little or no security?

So you did not have nightmares after the experience?
No, I did not. I am a very strong-minded man and if something explodes here, nothing will happen if it doesn't touch me. Though I am hypertensive, I don't scare easily.

Recently, Pastor Chris Okotie said all Catholics would go to hell because they don't believe in Jesus, and that the Pope is an anti-Christ. As a Catholic, what do you have to say about that?
He is entitled to his opinion. He has a right to say whatever he likes and he is using that right. Constitutionally, he is entitled to it. Stupidity is what we all have in common as human beings, but some people insist that improving it is their entitlement. So, you expect Pete Edochie and other Catholics to be angry? No, I won't.
I knew Chris some years back; he was fond of me when he was still in school. When I was still a broadcaster, a Hausa man presented him with a car and he came and showed it to me. He is someone I have always liked and he is entitled to his views.
When people condemn T. B. Joshua and say he is using devilish powers, I tell them, 'Go and use devilish powers and do what he is doing too.' I don't believe in running people down because you can't reach their gifts and depriving others of their hard-earned credit.

Nigerians have known you since you acted Chinua Achebe's book, Things Fall Apart, but how did acting really start for you?
I had been on television for a very long time, before Things Fall Apart, but people who were in Lagos did not know that people like us existed. They were only seeing Village Headmaster with Funso Adeolu, but we had been on stage since 1967. Before then, I had done drama sketches in school –
Shakespeare and the rest of them. It was Things Fall Apart that gave me international exposure, and the biggest compliment I got was from Chinua Achebe, who said I gave Things Fall Apart the interpretation after his heart. The BBC crew flew down to Nigeria to interview me and went back.
Permit me to say this without sounding immodest: no other actor has attracted such international attention in the country.

The proverbs you use in your movies, are they scripted or from your repertoire?
(Laughs) They come from me.

Yes, everything

When you use those proverbs, how do the directors react?
I am asking you the question: how would they feel,? you are a daughter, if I use a proverb to correct you? You are not going to question the propriety of that proverb, because if it were not, I wouldn't use it.

Pete Edochie always acts the role of a rich man or an Igwe? How rich are you in reality?
Well, I eat three times a day, when I feel like. I trained all my kids and take care of them without borrowing from the bank. People always ask why I am always given such roles and I ask them in return, can you cast me as a driver? No. Can you cast me as a gateman? No.

What are those excesses?
As a young man, I drank a lot. I could drink any bottle under the table. It was because of peer group pressure. We enjoyed diverting ourselves alcoholically. We were not given to subduing the womenfolk as a mark of accomplishment; we always got together to drink and smoke cigarettes. As we got older, I felt there is a need to cut down on all these excesses. I gave up smoking though I smoked for 21 years. I gave it up when I discovered it wasn't serving any purpose.

You said you smoked for 21years to ward off anger, now that you have stopped smoking, how do you ward off anger?
I don't get angry easily anymore; I used my Fabian philosophy to stop that.

'Our Fourth Child Is Not Yours' - Wife Tells Husband After Giving Her Life To Christ

The confession of a mother of five that her former boss was the biological father of her fourth child is now threatening her 25-year-old marriage.

Her husband, 57-year-old  Isaac Jemibola, a  civil servant, has approached an Ikole Customary Court in Ekiti State, seeking the dissolution of his marriage to the woman, 48-year-old Olayemi.

Jemibola based his divorce plea on the ground that the respondent confessed committing  adultery in 2002.

He urged the court in the petition filed on January  21, to grant him custody of  the five children  from  the marriage.

The petition told the court that he married  Olayemi  in 1989 according to the native law and custom.
According to him, ``after retiring to bed on January 19, my wife came to me and knelt down.

"She confessed to have had an  extramarital affair with her former boss which resulted in the pregnancy of the  fourth child.

"My wife said she had given her life to Christ and that  her desire to make heaven made her confess based on the  advice from her pastor.

"She added that the paternity of the fourth child was in doubt since both the boss and I  slept with her the same week,'' he said.

Jemibola further told the court that he reported the matter to his parents who pleaded with the woman to reverse her confession.

"She however  insisted that she was following the dictates of the Bible.

"I purposely don't   want to do the  DNA test because I don't  want to hate the child.'' he said.

Olayemi admitted committing the offence, but kicked against dissolution of the marriage.

"I did it because Jemibola was befriending another woman during the period which made him abandon me for almost six months.

"It was  that same period that my former boss, who normally took me to work in his car, made  love advances  at  me. Both men made love with me at almost the same period.

"After some years, I discovered that the child looked quite  different from his siblings and out of guilt, I decided to tell him the truth.

"I pleaded for his  forgiveness but he refused,'' Olayemi said.

Davido, Wizkid, And Other Nigerian Artists Can't Get Nominated Or Even Win The Grammies -Adewale Ayuba

Bonsue Fuji exponent, Adewale Ayuba believes popular Nigerian hip-hop musicians, Davido, Wizkid and others would not be able to enter and win the Grammys anytime soon if they don't re-invent their music.

The legendary musician, who has about 23 albums to his credit, said Nigerian hip-hop artistes must learn how to re-invent themselves in the uniqueness of
indigenous African music genres, such as Afrobeat, Highlife, Fuji and Juju, if they want to remain relevant in the music industry.

"As far as I am concerned, Davido and the likes
sing Fuji. The truth is the music they play is sweeter than American hip hop and rhythm 'n' blues. So why call it hip hop? That is why they cannot enter for the Grammys as that tag 'hip hop' is limiting.

"They have to rename it 'hip hop Africo' so that the West will know that it is Nigerian. Rhythm 'n' blues and hip hop music in Nigeria is like a candle that will die soon because there is no door to the outside world. And any music you can't take to the outside world is not worth doing," he said.



Commenting on the criticism that an average Fuji artiste is a college drop-out or tout who does not believe in dishing out good videos, Ayuba, who clinched two Kora awards in 2005, says: "Fuji musicians don't spend money or make out enough time to shoot good videos. But you can't blame them for this because they don't believe it is worth doing, since their songs don't get enough air play on radio stations. "Many of the people behind the consoles at these radio stations are aged between 18 and 23 years. The kind of music they know and prefer is hip hop. And you know Nigerians love anything that comes from the western
countries.

"See what happened 10 years ago with Makossa music. It practically took over our churches and mosques, though most fans didn't even understand the language."

LASU To Reopen On The 24th Of February Three Weeks After Shutdown

The Lagos State University (LASU) Senate in a memo dated 14th February has fixed Monday, February 24th as the resumption date for the school shut down three weeks ago following students unrest.

It has been directed that the university be re-opened to allow final year students across all departments to sit for their 2012/2013 academic session second semester examinations and meet up with National Youth Service Corps Batch B mobilisation in June, 2014.

Students will resume in three phases as shown below.

A. Final year students

i) 24th February,2014 – Re-opening of the University for Final Year Students Only
ii) 24th & 25th Feb,2014 – University portal opens for Final Year Students only till 12 Midnight of 25th Feb, 2014.
iii) 26th -27th Feb,2014 – Capturing and production of Exam Dockets.
iv) 28th of Feb 2014 – Collection of Exam Docket
V) Monday, 3rd March, 2014 – Commencement of Exam for Final Year Students.

B. Fresh Students.
i) 10th-13th March 2014 – Screening Exercise for fresh Students

Mob Attacks 14 Suspected Gay Men In Abuja

ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) — A mob armed with wooden clubs and iron bars, screaming that they were going to "cleanse" their neighborhood of gay people, dragged 14 young men from their beds and assaulted them, human rights activists said Saturday.

Four of the victims were marched to a police station, where they allegedly were kicked and punched by police officers who yelled pejoratives at them, said Ifeanyi Orazulike of the International Center on Advocacy for the Right to Health.

Police threatened that the men would be incarcerated for 14 years, he said, the maximum prison sentence under Nigeria's new Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act, dubbed the "Jail the Gays" law. Activists have warned the law could trigger attacks such as the one perpetrated in the early hours of Thursday morning in Abuja, the capital of Africa's most populous nation.

Mob justice is common in Nigeria and civil rights organizations have been warning for years of an increase in community violence and the government's failure to curb acts in which people have been beaten to death for perceived crimes such as theft.

"Since the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act was signed, we have expressed concern as a friend of Nigeria that it might be used by some to justify violence against Nigerians based on their intimate orientation," the U.S. Embassy said in a statement Friday. "Recent attacks in Abuja deepen our concern on this front."

The police spokeswoman for the Federal Capital Territory, Deputy Superintendent Altine Daniel, said she was unaware of the attack but would try to get details for The Associated Press.

Orazulike said he got a panicked email from a colleague who said he was hiding from a mob of 40 people who struck around 1 a.m. Thursday, going from house to house saying their mission was "to cleanse" the area of gays. He said they used pieces of wood and iron to beat up 14 young men. Orazulike said he drove from his home at 4 a.m. Thursday to save the man in Gishiri, a shantytown with mud roads near central Abuja.

Those attacked are in hiding and too scared to speak to reporters, he said, recounting their story.

"They were told 'If you come back, we will kill you.'"

The walls of houses where the men lived have been painted with graffiti declaring "Homosexuals, pack and leave," he said.

The New York-based International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission condemned the attack and warned, "It is important that people understand that this kind of violence can happen to anyone and that the government seems to have abdicated its responsibility to protect people from violence and impunity."

Orazulike said he went to the police station later Thursday and met with a senior officer who ordered the four men released because there was no evidence that they were gay and they had not been caught having sex.

Four were severely injured and others suffered bruises, he said. They were treated at his organization's clinic because they were afraid to go to the hospital.

"They said the police slapped and kicked them and swore at them," he said.

Dorothy Aken'Ova, executive director of Nigeria's International Center for Reproductive Health and intimate Rights, said she stayed up all night Wednesday trying to get police and Civil Defense to send officers to the scene after she got a phone call from a man who was being attacked.

"Instead of helping them, apparently some of them were arrested," she told AP. "None of the (law enforcement) agents responded to our distress calls."

Dozens of allegedly gay people have been arrested since President Goodluck Jonathan signed the bill into law in January. It not only forbids gay marriage, which carries a 14-year jail sentence, it makes it a crime for anyone, straight or homosexual, to hold a meeting of gays or to advocate human rights for gays. Convicted offenders can be jailed for up to 10 years.

U.S. President Barack Obama's initiative to promote the rights of homosexuals has been rebuffed in Africa, where Uganda also is considering a draconian law carrying penalties of up to life imprisonment for certain gay acts. Many Africans believe homosexuality is an evil import from the West.

However, the U.S. ambassador to Nigeria, James F. Entwistle, on a recent radio program assured Nigerians that the United States would not be cutting aid because of the new anti-gay law.

Tiwa Savage Arrested Last Night For Insulting A Police Officer?

According to DiamondCelebrities, The singer was arrested in front of Eko Hotel for removing a policeman's cap from his head.

It is reported that Tiwa violated the traffic law and the policeman stopped her, out of annoyance she forcefully removed the officer's cap and threw it away.

She was then arrested and was taken away.
