Eagles defeat Burkina Faso in Kaduna

Nigeria won the match 4-1.

The Super Eagles on Tuesday confirmed their superiority over the Stallions of Burkina Faso as they defeated the fellow West African team 4-1.

The friendly match was played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.

The Africa Champions scored two goals in each half while the Burkinabe got their consolatory goal in the second half of the game.
Brown Ideye scored twice in the first half while Shola Ameobi also score in the second half before Emmanuel Emenike who missed the finalvmatch at the Africa Cup of Nations, capped the day with the fourth goal for the coach Stephen Keshi tutored side.

Burkina Faso's lone goal was scored by Simpore to end the day's proceedings 4-1.

Keshi, speaking after the match, commended his team and the players given the opportunity to start the game.

"Of course I am pleased with the performance of my boys, Ameobi , Nsofor and the other players gave a good account of themselves and it is really looking well for the team, for now we can only hope things wll keep getting better and better with each game," he said.

The Nigerian coach also commented on Nigeria's likely opponents in the final phase of the World Cup qualifiers saying he has no preference.

"We are prepared to face any team, we are just going to wait patiently and see what the draws will look like," he said.

Eagles goalkeeper and stand-in captain, Vincent Enyeama, thanked Kaduna fans and the Kaduna government for the warm hospitality as he pointed out that he and the Eagles will always jump at the opportunity play in the Crocodile City.
