BREAKING NEWS! A’Ibom Guber: Tribunal overrules Udom, orders movement of election materials to Abuja

 

OyatoTalk Online has exclusively gathered that Akwa Ibom Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, today, override the objection filed by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, on the relocation of the tribunal from Uyo to Abuja.

The tribunal has in delivery its ruling granted Umana Umana (The Petitioner)’s application that all election materials relating to the April 11 governorship election in Akwa Ibom be transferred from INEC office Uyo to INEC Headquarters Abuja within 10 days from today, Wednesday, June 24, 2015.

OyatoTalk online also learnt that the tribunal further granted Umana Umana another 14 days to inspect Election Materials at INEC Headquarters, Abuja, while the Nigeria Police and DSS are ordered to provide security for the materials at all times including while moving them from Uyo to Abuja.

The Tribunal has also extended the time for the inspection of election materials by Umana and his team by 14 days.

This ruling has finally settled the preliminary application filed by Udom Emmanuel on the relocation of the tribunal from Akwa Ibom to Abuja, penultimately.

There is, however, a fresh argument before the tribunal emanating from Umana’s team, which is, whether the tribunal can extend the time for Udom Emmanuel to file reply to Umana’s motion to strike out Udom’s reply to the Main Petition.

The time for Udom to have filed his reply/defense, this paper learnt, expired yesterday, and till now, Udom’s team has not entered any defense, sources at the tribunal hinted OyatoTalk online.
