Saraki Replies APC Leader, Speaker Dogara Fires Too

The Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, and the Speaker of the House of Reps, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, on Monday described as baseless a statement by the former All Progressives Congress National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande, that their elections on June 9 were sponsored by oil barons.

Saraki and Dogara gave their reaction in separate statements in Abuja on Monday.

Akande, in a widely publicised statement on Sunday, had alleged that oil barons who never liked President Muhammadu Buhari`s anti-corruption stance, sponsored the elections of Saraki and Dogara in a bid to stifle the new government.

Akande also alleged that some splinter groups within the APC were aligning with old and new PDP forces to launch a platform for the 2019 polls.

The Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government has started tracing looted Nigerian funds to foreign nations with the aim of recovering and repatriating them back to the country for the use of all.

The Government specifically targets the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland and other European jurisdictions where it believes corrupt officials have been stashing public funds.

This move came on the heels of the declaration by President Buhari on his first day in Aso Villa office that he inherited an almost empty treasury from his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, thus vowing that his administration would recover all the looted funds stashed in foreign banks by corrupt Nigerians.

NNPC Probe Begins As Buhari Sacks Board

As you would have heard by now, President Muhammadu Buhari has dissolved the Board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation with immediate effect.

The announcement was made in a statement by the Director Communications, Office of Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Haruna Imrana, on behalf of the HoS, Mr. Danladi Kifasi.

The directive to that effect was conveyed in a letter signed on Friday June 26, 2015 by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi.

Ekweremadu As Saraki’s Deputy Is Unacceptable — Buhari

For President Muhammadu Buhari, the emergence of a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member as deputy Senate President in the current dispensation is nothing short of a setback for his administration.

He is irked that some members of his own party, All Progressives Congress (APC), conceded the position to Ike Ekweremadu when the PDP never gave that much all through its 16 years in power between 1999 and last May.

But Mr President is optimistic that the APC will overcome the setback.

Buhari made his feelings known at a meeting with a delegation of the Unity Forum at the Aso Rock Villa on Friday night. The forum is the group of senators backing Dr. Ahmed Lawan, the APC anointed candidate for the Senate Presidency.

At the meeting he pleaded for understanding of APC Senators as the party explores reconciliation options.

I Dropped My Presidential Ambition For Buhari —Bukola Saraki

Senate President Bukola Saraki has denied reports that he is nursing the ambition for presidency in 2019, saying he actually quit his presidential bid in the 2015 election for President Muhammadu Buhari.

Saraki stated that he contributed immensely to the emergence of Buhari as President and contributed greatly to his victory in the presidential election held on March 28, 2015.

The Senate President, who spoke to select journalists in an exclusive interview in Abuja on Saturday, also denied having plans to dump the APC due to the crisis in the party over his leadership of the Senate.

Rather, he said what remained paramount in his mind at the moment was how to support the Buhari-led administration to tackle the various social and economic problems confronting the country.

2 Receive Death Sentence For Blaspheming Muhammed In Kano

Two persons were sentenced to death by an Upper Sharia Court in Rijiyar Lemo, Kano for alleged blasphemy against the Prophet Muhammad.

Saraki Rubbishes APC Again: Makes Ndume Senate Leader

The APC is being dragged in the mud by Boko Saraki and his gang. Three out of the four principal officers of the Senate assumed office on Thursday after the Senate President, Saraki, read their nomination letters from their respective zonal caucuses in the red chamber, against APC's wish again.

Saraki at the resumed sitting of the federal lawmakers, refused to read the letter sent to him by APC leaders but read out the letters addressed to him by the APC senate caucuses from the North-East, North-West and South-South.

He said the North-East caucus had endorsed and nominated Senator Ali Ndume as the Majority Leader, while the North-West caucus adopted Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah as Deputy Majority Leader.

The South-South caucus according to their own letter, adopted France Alimikhena as the deputy whip.
